Boys of summer.

“Geigenpunk war gestern”, so lautete mein Titel zu “Lights And Sounds“ dem letzten Album von Yellowcard. Somit wäre jetzt vorgestern wieder heute. Alles klar?

Paper Walls geht mindestens zwei Schritte zurück. „Lights And Sounds“ war mit den ganzen Streichern und pompösen Balladen schon ein wenig zu dick aufgetragen, auf „Paper Walls“ wird nun das Tempo wieder ordentlich gedrosselt. Selbstverständlich ohne auf die typischen Yellowcard-Balladen zu verzichten. Diese nennen sich diesmal „Dear Bobbie“, „Shadows And Regrets“ oder „You And Me And One Spotlight“. Natürlich wie immer hart an der Kitschgrenze, aber immer noch ertragbar. Schnellere Songs wie „Takedown“ oder „Five Becomes Four“ erinnern an die seligen vergangenen Tage von „Ocean Avenue“ und „One For The Kids“.

Natürlich ist das alles Kommerz, Kiddie-Mucke oder wie auch immer Ihr das nennen wollt. Aber es ist auch das, wonach jede Grillparty schreit: Eine perfekte Sommerplatte, die auch während der Winterdepression gerne mal wieder rausgekramt wird.
