FUCKING BEAUTIFUL - Blood Of Gold (Beautiful Records/RecRec)

Glam-Rock made in Switzerland.

Es gab mal eine Band, die nannte sich Lovebugs und galt als grosse Schweizer Rock-Hoffnung. Heutzutage veröffentlicht diese Band nur noch Schnulzen und es ist ihrem Ex-Bassisten Baschi hoch anzurechnen, dass er die Band rechtzeitig verlassen hat, um seinen eigenen Weg zu beschreiten. Wobei ich zugeben muss, dass mir Baschi's Glam-Gepose und die "ich wär so gern ein Brite"-Attitude lange ziemlich auf den Geist gegangen ist. Kuriert worden bin ich an einem Konzert der Band. Das macht Spass, das ist Rock 'n' Roll, das ist Sex mit Gitarren, das ist gut! Die Bühnenshow auf Platte zu pressen ist kein leichtes Unterfangen, aber es ist Fucking Beautiful ("Baschi & The" wurde mittlerweile aus dem Bandnamen gestrichen) bestens gelungen. "Blood Of Gold" ist Leidenschaft, ist Pop, Punk und eine riesige Portion Glam. Für Farbtupfer sorgt Milk Framboise, deren Stimme den Songs einen B-52's-Touch verleiht und einen ganz wunderbaren Kontrast zu Baschi's quäkender "Mick Bowie"-Stimme erzeugt.

Musikalisch ist auf "Blood Of Gold" ein Reigen von Sub-Genres anzutreffen: "Beggar Baby" ist ein zappliger Power-Pop-Song, "Milk & Honey" ein Tanzflächenfeger (mit an Iron Maiden erinnernder Bridge), "Rotter" ein schneller Punk-Kracher und mit "Hunter & Gatherer" gibt's auch eine absolut radiotaugliche Stadion-Rock-Ballade. Textlich werden in erster Linie die genrespezifischen Klischees bedient: "I’m so horny, I’ve got an imaginative mind. Make it real, smell taste feel" (aus "Rattle Her Bones") oder "I want your milk & honey. Don’t want your smile and I don’t want your money. I want your milk & honey. I’ll lick your toes and I’ll tickle your tummy" (aus "Milk & Honey"). Doch gelegentlich schimmert eine Spur Selbstreflexion durch, etwa in "Forever Now": "Life is turning upside down. And still I’m swimming up the stream searching. I could’ve had it easier. I should’ve settled down"

"Blood Of Gold" ist ein kurzweiliges, abwechslungsreiches Hörvergnügen mit vielen Highlights und nur wenigen Durchhängern ("Oblivion" etwa, ein eher lahmer Alt-Herren-Rocksong). Wer Tiefgang sucht ist mit der Platte sicher falsch beraten, wer den Moment geniessen und sich auf die kommenden Konzerte einstimmen will (deren Besuch dringend empfohlen ist!), sollte rasch zugreifen.
