Welcome to Coco Rosie-Land.

Lang war sie, die Schlange vor der Boa. So lang wie ich das selten erlebt habe. Kein Wunder, die schräge Minimal-Folk-Gruppe Coco Rosie entwickelt sich vom Insider-Tipp allmählich zu einer Konsens-Band. Gratulation den Boa-Bookern, die den Braten offenbar rechtzeitig gerochen haben. Sie wurden belohnt mit einer gut gefüllten Halle sowie einem Konzert, wie ich und wohl viele andere der Anwesenden es noch nie erlebt haben.

Minimalistisch arrangiert sind sie, die Songs von Coco Rosie. Ein paar Töne auf der Harfe, der Gitarre oder dem Piano, dazu ein Human-Beat der dritten Frau im Bunde (deren Namen an diesem Abend nicht zu erfahren ist) und als Zückerchen vielleicht noch eine Spielzeugtröte. Darüber entfalten sich dann die Stimmen der Cassidy-Schwestern. Die eine krächzt, die anderen klingt wie eine Sirene. Was sich so beschrieben wenig erfreulich liest, ist live eindrücklich bis atemberaubend. Und schlicht ungewöhnlich. Frei nach den Gesetzen der Marktwirtschaft: Die Popularität von Coco Rosie hängt sicher mit ihrer absoluten Einzigartigkeit zusammen.

Einziges Manko an diesem ansonsten wunderbaren Abend: Auf die Dauer machte sich auch die auf dem Album auftauchende Eintönigkeit etwas bemerkbar. Und die Animationsspielchen der dritten Dame waren manchmal schlicht fehl am Platz. Aber man musste schon ein absoluter „Kunsti-Muffel“ sein, um dem Erscheinungsbild der Cassidy-Schwestern sowie ihren Songs und ihrer Performance (sowie den wirklich tollen Video-Animationen) letzlich nicht doch zu erliegen.
