</p><p>Wenn "A Sad Ride On The Line Again" das Singer/Songwriter-Album war, "Gentlemen Start Your Engines" die Emo-,"(From Lausanne, Switzerland)" die Hardcore-Platte und "Bellefontaine Avenue" schliesslich das Pop-Werk von Favez, dann ist das neuste Werk "Old And Strong In The Modern Times" wohl die Favez'sche Hardrock-Scheibe.<br/>

Zugegeben, eine etwas gewagte These. Und doch findet sich darauf alles, was es f&#xFC;r eine Hardrock-Platte braucht: Den Nackenbrecher-Song ("And The Ships Sail"), die Power-Ballade ("My Days Off The Hook"), die Up-Tempo-Hymne ("The Bigger The Clouds") oder den Song mit schier endlosem Solo-Part ("Ghost Of Winters Past"). Nat&#xFC;rlich gilt diese musikalische Verortung nur innerhalb des Favez'schen Musikspektrums. Die Lausanner sind musikalisch nach wie vor n&#xE4;her bei Bands wie Hot Water Music oder Quicksand angesiedelt als bei Guns 'n' Roses (auch wenn sie letztere im Opener "Looking For Action" kurz zitieren). Im Unterschied zum letzten Werk "Bellefontaine Avenue" gehen Favez auf "Old And Strong..." wieder sehr viel roher ans Werk (Zitat Chris Wicky, S&#xE4;nger und Gitarrist: "We set up all our stuff in the same small room, guitars and bass bleeding into the drum mics. (...) When we started playing, the band had never ever ever (EVER!) sounded so tight and brutal!"), so dass die aktuelle Scheibe soundm&#xE4;ssig wohl am ehesten mit "(From Lausanne...) " zu vergleichen ist. Gleichzeitig haben es Favez aber geschafft, einen ganzen Reigen von bis anhin ungeh&#xF6;rten Elementen in ihre Songs einzubauen. So etwa die beinahe gesprochene Strophe im grandiosen Song "Marlon Brando Porsches Hondas And Me" oder die fast schon Queens Of The Stone Age-artigen Ch&#xF6;re in "Desolation Blues". Auch die Anfangsriffs des letztgenannten Songs und von "What Are You Gonna Do With My Life" sind f&#xFC;r Favez eher un&#xFC;blich, geben der Platte aber letztlich genau das Quentchen Eigenst&#xE4;ndigkeit das sie braucht, um gegen die bisherigen Favez-Alben bestehen zu k&#xF6;nnen.<br/>

Im Band-Info schreibt S&#xE4;nger Chris: "This is the record I'll have my children listen to when they ask me why I never got a proper job..." Ich sage: Er kann seinen Kindern ruhig sein Gesamtwerk vorspielen!<br/>
